Join our team of Guardians

Our teams of Guardians are based out of our Brisbane City, Ipswich, Townsville and Cairns offices. They act as substitute decision makers for adults with impaired decision making capacity where the Public Guardian is acting as their guardian.

Our Guardians take on the role of decision maker for a range of personal and health care matters, which will vary from client to client. We don’t make any financial decisions for our clients though.

Guardians will always try and take clients’ wishes into account and take the time and effort to consult with the adult and their support network to get a real understanding of their needs. They also advocate for the adult’s rights and interests in a variety of scenarios, for example to make sure they are getting access to appropriate services, or adequate support in legal matters.

Our Guardians come from a wide range of backgrounds, including the disability sector, social work, human services, psychology, health, law and government administration.
